Political section

Bilateral relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the People's Republic of China are friendly and cooperative since the establishing diplomatic relations on 12th May 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Beijing is the official representation of the Slovenian government to the People's Republic of China and started to operate on 25th of February 1993;

The main objectives of the Embassy are:

  • To promote close bilateral political, economic and cultural relations between Slovenia and People's Republic of China;
  • To promote Slovenia in the People's Republic of China;
  • To further strengthen the cooperation with People's Republic of China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and one of the leading economic and trade powers of the World;
  • To promote direct relations among Chinese cities and provinces with adequate partners from Slovenia;
  • To provide consular assistance to Slovenian citizens in People's Republic of China;
  • To provide information on Slovenia to citizens of the People's Republic of China.

Slovenia and China have established regular annual political consultations on the level of deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
