Slovenia shows solidarity with the People’s Republic of China in efforts against coronavirus
Slovenia dispatched material aid in the form of more than 1.2 million protective masks to the People's Republic of China to help to curb coronavirus. Slovenia is one of the countries that responded with actual assistance through the mechanism of European Union in the field of Civil Protection. In addition, a financial contribution to the World Health Organization will be earmarked, also as contribution to curb coronavirus.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent Slovenian companies a call for donations of equipment as official humanitarian aid of the Republic of Slovenia. The Slovenian subsidiary of Kylin Prime Group (KPG) responded first by donating 1,231,400 protective masks.
The Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief took over the protective masks and organized the transport from Ljubljana to Vienna, from where a special flight to Wuhan is scheduled before Monday 17 February 2020, organized by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
In addition, there is a number of private companies and municipalities that responded in solidarity directly by shipping the equipment to sister towns or provinces and cities where their business partners are located, inter alia, sister city of Črna na Koroškem in Slovenia supported the sister city Harbin and pharmaceutical Krka Group donated protective masks to Zhejiang province.
